故郷 (furusato, also read kokyō) is the Japanese word for the place your heart comes from: more than a hometown, the home that shaped you, held in memory.
On the back, a Japanese restaurant in Lima, seen through its bowl: prawns, citrus, tomato and herbs heaped in a dish painted with waves and cherry blossom, with RESTAURANTE JAPONÉS and Lima, Perú beneath. Lima's Japanese-Peruvian community gave the city Nikkei cooking, where Japanese technique meets Peruvian ingredients: a home carried to the other side of the world and made into something new. On the front, the word alone, small, over the heart.
